Coloni Motorsport is not only a successful racing team, but a well-known Constructor too.
The Coloni Engineering has a long time history in Europe, starting in 1987 in the FIA F1 World Championship: in fact, Coloni made his debut as F1 Constructor with the CN-1, which obtained very good result driven by Gabriele Tarquini.
In the same year, Coloni built up the Formula Alfa Boxer, a propedeutic single seater which has been racing for three years in the Italian Formula Alfa Boxer Championship.
Till 1990, Coloni Engineering has been present in F1. In the 1995 the Engineering started the Superformula Project, a powerful and technical single seater focus on having high down force level thanks to the ground effect combined with a very light weight. Coloni organised the Superformula Trophy too and then in 1997 projected and realized one of the most successful single seater of the European motor racing, the Formula Open Nissan which has been driven by such a great drivers as Fernando Alonso, Marc Gené, Frank Montagny.
In 2000, Coloni designed and built up the Silhouette S2000, an advanced prototype with carbon fibre bodywork, aluminium chassis, sequential gearbox, carbon brake disks: the most performing touring car ever built with over 310 Km/h of maximum speed.
